The City Clerk, in the role of record keeper, manages a great deal of information vital to the operation of the City of Clayton.  The Clerk is responsible for providing administrative support to the City Council, the Redevelopment Agency, the Clayton Financing Authority, Geologic Hazard Abatement District and the City Manager.

The Clerk performs the following duties:

prepares and distributes agenda packets
processes required legal notices
in charge of recording the proceedings of the aforementioned governing meetings
coordinates all municipal and special elections for the City of Clayton
provides notary services (please call for an appointment) (charge $10.00 per signature)
functions as liaison to the media
administers the oaths of office
processes claims
processes public record requests
administrative duties
