Release of Community Choice Energy Draft Technical Study & Public Workshop Schedule

Contra Costa County and 14 cities within the County, including Clayton, are exploring the potential of a Community Choice Energy (CCE) program.   CCE is a local energy model for local governments or special jurisdictions to procure or provide electric power for their residences and businesses.  The most common reason for jurisdictions to pursue CCE is to promote electrical generation from renewable resources and offer consumers a choice in purchasing electricity with a potential for cost savings.

A draft technical study which aimed at comparing and evaluating three CCE programs that could become alternatives to PG&E service for area residents, has been completed and is now available for review:

You are invited to learn more about the potential for Community Choice Energy in Contra Costa County, the options being considered, and to hear the results of the City and County-commissioned draft Technical Study.  The following upcoming workshops will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about Community Choice Energy and share comments and considerations with County officials:

Public Workshop for Draft Technical Study December 15, 2016 at 7 p.m. 30 Muir Rd, Martinez Zoning Administrator Room

Clayton is hosting a local meeting and presentation on CCE at its regular City Council meeting of January 17, 2017, which is to be held at 7:00 p.m. in Hoyer Hall, Clayton Community Library, 6125 Clayton Road, Clayton.
